Are the frames on a 1955 F250 and a 55 F150 the same? I haven't had a chance to get a 1955 shop manual as of yet, and I've got a lot of questions. Actually I've never been involved in mechanical things, but I'm trying to learn. My brother-in-law is very mechanically inclined but he thinks I should find out things on my own, so that I can learn better I suppose. If anyoe has a 1955 Ford truck shop manual, I could sure use one!! Thanks
First off, just a point of order. F150 didn't come out until about '74, your '55 1/2 ton would be an F100.
I don't think there's a manual that is going to tell you if the frames are the same. I think you're probably going to have to spend alot of time underneath both with a tape measure. For what it's worth, on most of the later model rigs say from '67 up the frames between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are almost identical. The reason is, you can get the same drivetrains in either a 1/2 or 3/4, so they've got the same holes punched, crossmembers, etc. The biggest difference is the frames on 3/4's are thicker and heavier.
Hope this helps
