My brake problems

Hi, I have a 1979 Ford F100 2wd with a 351M. My problem is when the brakes are applied the front wheels lock up but when you let off the pedal they release. Also the pedal goes to the floor but about 2 inches above the floor the brakes engage but there is no pressure on the pedal. Also i have power brakes. I was thinking it was a bad brake booster but i would like to get your appenions.

Thank you,
Michael

If the truck has been sitting a long time, the pistons in the rear wheel cylinders rust in place and won't let any fluid go to the rear when you push down on the pedal, forcing all the fluid to the front and causing the lockup problem you describe.

You'll be able to tell upon a disassembly and inspection. If that's the case, replace the rear cylinders.

your brake pedal is low because the rear brakes are out of adjustment, adjust them up and the pedal will come up, fronts are working first because they need no adjustment, they are self adjusting.....for good measure, AFTER adjusting up the rears, do a brake bleed....never hurts!
