I recently went out and started my 2003 Ford Excursion. It hasnt been runned for about 5 months.. When i put it in drive the emissions light came on, but i ignored it till i reached 40mph and the truck started hesitating and shaking.. Any ideas on what might be wrong??
It was probably pissed that you haven't driven it in so long.
Start with the basics.
~Fuel up with fresh fuel. Add Sea Foam to the fresh fuel if you like.
~Check your air cleaner to make sure something didn't make a nest in there!
~Check the exhaust for the same.
~Change your fuel filter. It's cheap and easy. Make sure you get the removal tool from the parts store when you're there. (If you've got a gasser.)
Could be a clogged injector(s), too. Sea Foam should help with that.
At least one good thing is that the light is on. That means there is a code stored that could help you troubleshoot the problem. Most parts stores will scan the PCM for free.
