I just bought a 53 F-100 and it came with a 6 cyl. It also came with a 460 w/C6. The 460 needs to be re-built. I also thought about puting in a (350/350)or would a 302 work better.What should I do?
What are you going to do with the truck? If keeping it original, then perhaps the 6 cyl that came with it. The 350, which I opted for, is easier and cheaper to build up (many more parts available).
I would like to custom it some. I would also like to have some power. Should I use the 460 and re-build it or go with a 350/350? Also I have a Dana 60 or should I go with a Ford 9 inch?
I have to agree that the Chevy drivetrain might be easier to get aftermarket parts for and it will probably be easier to find mounts etc to convert it. I personally would go with the Ford engine. If this is an F-1 then it's a half ton, and a 9" is also a 1/2 ton I would go with it as it's easier to work on than any others.
