Mystery Part

would someone be able to tell me what this is?

some sort of thing dealing with shifting in one way or another? perhaps it is some sort of linkage that would go to a transfer case?(my truck is only 4x2) any help appreciated

It's your clutch throwout bearing fork....

thanks for the info, as you can see im still learning the anatomy of my truck, kinda sucks that i want to do so much work to it but still dont have all i need to know to do so, but then again thats why im on this forum, haha. so what exactly is that parts function?

It is connected to the clutch pedal and disengages the clutch to allow a smooth shifting of gears.

Not sure if they still do it, but they used to put TH400 and Torquflite 727s behind clutches for drag use....
