I recently moved to Death Valley, where I work at the Furnace Creek Resort. I was heading out to Pahrump, Nevada, and I was driving in my '96 F-150, a beautiful truck, and I was doing about 70 MPH, and the the corner said 45 MPH, and I knew I needed to slow down, but I didn't and I nearly hit someone head on, but instead I side swiped them as I ran off their side of the road, we get out and exchange insurance, and we look our rigs over, seems very little damage to to his Van, and no damage to my truck. So we go our seperate ways, and I start the truck up, and it won't move, I throw it in 4WD, it moves, but drags, so I get out and look, and my right wheel in wedged up against the fender, so now I have to get a tow truck. So now, I'm getting it towed to Pahrump, and the shop looks at it, and they say it well take a few days or more to fix, but if I bent the frame, it won't be fixable, everything was bent radius arm tie rod end yada yada , I dunno as of yet if my axle or frame are bent, they called me yesterday, but I wasn't home, so I have to wait to see what they wanted. Hopefully they have good news, I know they have the parts and have torn everyhting apart on the right front corner, let's just hope the axle and frame aren't bent, so I get my truck back soon.
I have had some really bad bent frames fixed . Like front pushed so far back that motor bent cab. As well as twists front end bent to left arout 6 in. If your truck looked decent body line ok more or less its not to bad . Radius arms ,axles. cross membera can be replaced. If push you transfer is probably toast. This is why I have extra parts truck. The age of your truck will make most think not worth fixing. Just remember you don't have a $400.00 month payment and you love your truck.
My truck is gonna be alright, as soon as they get the rest of parts, either today or tommorow, it'll take them a day to get it all back together, and my truck will be ready to drive back to good ole Death Valley.
