I know everyone will tell me to get a bts tranny but not sure if my wallet will be able to afford it when the time comes. I have been looking at some of the factory tech stuff. From people who have a monster box tranny in there truck how do they perform and last? I was actually thinking of ordering the kit they sell to upgrade your tranny to basically be a monster box. was wondering you guys thought of that?
Suncoast has a similar kit and that is the only one I would recommend.
The monsterbox units are now mfg by Jasper, and quite frankly they suck.
You're wallet can't afford to pay a little less for a tranny now, and have it die later can it? You don't have to worry about that with BTS, or Suncoast for that matter.
Thats just the alto rebuild kit's I personally run alto clutches and kolene steels in my race trannies and when the time comes to rebuild the tranny behind the PSD I will go with them there too. The biggest thing from what I can tell is get a GOOD TC, something like the one from BTS, and upgrade the valve body and that tranny will survive most upgrades you can do to the motor.
Here is one seller on evilbay that is selling the same kit for about $130 less, I have dealt with them in the past and never had a complaint there is another seller on there that I buy some kits from without complaints too but they don't happen to have one listed for the 4R100 right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...68433427QQrdZ1

Thread jack for a second: I have an opportunity to get a smokin deal on the Suncoast stuff for my tranny. Do I need to get the upgraded Input, Intermediate, and Output shafts (do you know if BTS upgrades them?)?
Oh yes im sure he does. There are guys out there running over 700 hp through BTS trannies, and i think that they paid the same $3900 for the same hard parts, except for valving. If you can get good suncoast stuff, go for it. I don't have anything against them, however i am partial to BTS because their customer service is better than excellent.

What makes me ask is because for $3900(BTS), two of those shafts are $830 MSRP and the other is $230 MSRP(Suncoast website)I was wondering if he could afford to upgrade all 3 three shafts for that price.
Note: The guy that will build my tranny said if it was his do this:
1) Internal stuff Suncoast
2) TC: Precision Industries
3) Shafts: ATS
even though jasper sells monster box stuff i thought it was all made at factory tech. i didn't think jasper made any of the stuff for the monster box transmissions. Some one help me out on info on that one.
k thats what i thought, i know the jaspers aren't very good trannies b/c that is what is in my truck right now. I just knew everyone said jaspers weren't good and i didn't think the monster box was i nthe same category b/c it was actually made by factory tech.
jasper also builds them using the factory tech parts, jasper also is doing the warranty work..........(info in on the factory tech web site).........the warranty isnt very long mind you. some guys on here running factory tech parts would tell you BTS.
If factory tech was still manufacturing them why in the hell would they just give them to Jasper to sell?
Greg Evans moved manufacturing of the units to Jasper, they're Japser transmissions, Jasper builds them, Jasper sells them.
The only thing they have is the Monsterbox name.
