Rain X???

I have seen posts both ways with people who use it and like it (me too) but also those who swear they would never put the stuff on thier windows. Just wondering what the issues with it are?

It's a silicone product, and if the silicone gets too thick it will cause trouble with fogging. I use Piaa wipers with have silicone oils, so it applies a rain-x like coating with every swipe. I love them.

If you are concerned with it, a side step would be to wax your windows. Waxing the windshield is hard on wipers, but it makes a huge difference in the side and rear windows.

seemed to work fine with me, altho i don't like the wipe on kind much. i prefer either waxing windshield or putting the rain-x in washer res. also use wipers which work great and are quiet

I like it, in our climate it stays on, or works for about 3 months. Worth every bit to put it on.

I like it too. Stays good for a long time; longer on non-wiped windows (sides, rear and mirrors)
I don't like the way the wipers work on the windshield after the stuff has had several weeks of exposure, though. But that might just be the fact that I probably need new wiper blades.
For which, by the way, I wish I could get an unequivicable recommendation! Seems like everyone has their own favorites and the reports tend to conflict. Oh well, I'll just "trial and error" it until I find some that work well and last a while.

I have found the same ting with the wipers not seeming to work after a few weeks, I think it is because they work so well when rain x is fresh. I seem to remember the directions on the bottle saying to repeat application every few weeks.

Still waiting to hear from those who DO NOT like it and why.

I use it on my vehicles. Especially on my F150 with no intermitent wiper setting.

As for the other side, I would NOT use it if I did a lot of night driving or had a weak defroster as it does create a fog issue.

WIPER RECOMMENDATION:

I put on a set of Bosch Icons in September and love both their performance and low profile styling. NAPA is also selling some similar ones made by Innovision. Here are some links.

http://jobs.boschusa.com/AutoParts/WiperBlades/ICON/

http://www.tricoproducts.com/brochur...chtricoPopular

Advance Auto has the Bosch for about $20 (each blade), and NAPA has the Innovisions for about $17 (each blade).

I can recommend the Bosch blades. Haven't tried the Innovisions yet.

I use the Rain-X washer fluid. It is super in winter driving. Here in New England they dump the salt on the roads. It smears and dries all over windshield. With rain-x it just beads up and rolls off.

I guess I am confused with some of the posts. We are all talking about the Rain-X for outside window application correct? If so I don't understand the fogging or night time vision comments. I started using Rain-X when I use to race cars and some races were endurance races that ran into the night. The Rain-X was never an issue at night unless someone smeared it on the window. Even then all you had to do was do a swipe with the wipers and that would clear it up.

Since then I have used Rain-X on all of my vehicles on all of my windows and love the stuff. As boxcar1974 mentioned it is even great in the winter in New England. It makes getting ice off of the windows so much easier.

I agree with the confusion rain x on the outside will not effect fog on the inside. They do have a "no fog" product that I tried once (it was aplied on the inside) it worked well but when it started to break down it left an awfull film. Very anoying to see through would never do that again.

I use the big spray bottle. I spray it on when washing the truck and wipe it with the soap sponge then rince. It is the easiest way i have found to apply it and it works great.
