I currently have predator with 40 tow, 60 econo, and 85. Was just wondering for those of you that swithched to dp tuner, what is the major difference, and what dp tunes are equivalent to the predator tunes I currently have.
i never had a predator...but most of them are made for any ford truck and will lie to the computer to push more fuel to make more horse power..and thats a bout it...
a DP tuner is a custom made tune that is made for your ford trucks computer..jody makes the computer make the motor make more horse power..it doesnt lie to it..that way you have a safe running stroker..if you have an auto trans..his tunes will also bump up the trans line pressure..move the shift points and locks the tc a little faster depending on the tune and it puts the power you just made to the ground..you would have better shifts if you back it with a BTS vb...jody and brian work together for a much better shift..its also a switch on the fly tuner..i cant see why you would even think about a differnt tuner..
I have had the Predator and replaced it with the DP tuner. The major differences? DP tuner has: more power, lower EGTs, better MPG, and an awesome shifting program for the auto trans.
Honestly, there is nothing on the Predator that compares to the DP tuner. It just behaves better and runs better with the DP tuner. Plus, the ability to change settings on the fly is a nice.
Yes there isn't any comparison to DPtuner of the past power enhancers i've ran. None of them can hold a candle to DPtuner and to top it off, the transmission tuning on the files are amazing, he is so good with the transmission tuning as well. I would compare the "120" setting, the most extreme setting on the Predator to a tame, 80 horsepower "economy" tune that DPtuner has. A guy went from up north down to Florida and got a consistent 22mpg on an 80hp tune!
i got a predator and it locked my truck in performance mode, well after paying the dealer for a reflash i got a little peeved and after a six pack or three my buddies and i used it for a wheel chock###$$$
i am oriering my guages at the end of the week.
I was planning to do the work to the tans next bts vb, full flush, new filter, and a trans cooler, then get a dp tunner.
should i do it that way or can i get the power first
thanks Keith

no sir!!! get the gauges 1st and for most..then BTS valve body..then tell jody you have a BTS and you will have great set up...jody can set up a much better shift program with a BTS..i ordered my DP and my bts vb at the same time..took 3 days to get my tunes and 2 weeks to get my vb..you think i could wait???no way..i installed the dp with the stock vb and was advised by jody not to run over the 40 tow cause ill loose my trany...its that much better with a BTS....

Same here!!! Add the BTS valve body and never look back!
