startup problem?
From a cold start: After turning the key, for 4 years the truck would start up in maybe 2 seconds. Starting this summer, the amount of crank time required is getting longer and longer. Now its up to maybe 15 - 20 seconds and sometimes you feel like its not going to start at all.
Once its warmed up: Starts in 2 or 3 seconds.....
I also think I'm hearing pinging when I get on it when the engine is cold still... Not sure if its related but it seems to have gotten worse as the starting problem has...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex
If you don't feel up to the challenge, you can have just about any shop these days perform this service... typically runs $60-120 depending on where you go.
Before you do so though, might help to have the codes pulled somewhere and let us know if there are any currect or pending codes stored. Good luck!
After reading... and reading on here... I decided to change my fuel filter - EVEN THOUGH this was supposidly done less than 10k miles ago at the dealership.
It's like a new car! Woot! It starts right up, there is no pinging at WOT and the power comes so much smoother. The wife and I couldn't be happier.
Anyone else having these problems, I HIGHLY recommend spending 15 minutes and changing your fuel filter. It cost me a total of $15 including the special removal tool you'll need.
I'm thinking a good dose of the Sea Foam treatment is in my future.
Thanks guys!
Alex
