I have to disagree. My 05 chevy crew cab never done this until the day I sold it. I think it is an over statement to say every make has this problem.

My point is it is not a problem. If your chevy had an electric fuel pump it had to pump fuel to start it. No problem.

My corsica, 90 f150, 98 expedition, 2000 f150, 2003 chevy 1500, 2004 f150, and my 98 nissan frontier never did it. And of course my 56 belair, 74 f100, and 78 nova never did it.

I wonder if the frequency of the problem might be related to the brand of fuel and/or the seasonal blend of the fuel.

A friend of mine has a 05 Screw also and used to have the same problems. The truck started dying when he accelerated fast or pucnhed the gas. He took the truck in for this problem and they told him that the computer needed to be reprogrammed. They told them that they had had several 05's come in doing the same thing. He hasn't had any problems since September.

I am glad you posted that. The dealership also updated mine, but still does it. It is a pain since no codes are thrown. I will post if my problem ever gets solved. It does it with and without my tuner also.

Now that you mentioned that. I have had my truck act like it wanted to die when i accelerated in a turn. I figured it was becuase i was low on gas but it has done it when it has 3/4 tank as well. This has happened about three times. And only 3700 miles on the truck.

this thread went from not starting to stalling in turns. Just do what I had posted earlier and your starting problems will be gone. As far as the stalling...........

Well maybe all except mine. My next step to resolve the problem is to get a loaner from the dealership and have them keep my truck for a few days.

Grits, I can see your point, but it's not the cure all for this issue. Mine does it when it's driven, stopped for a short time (getting gas or store visit) and then starting again. I've tried all manner of timing to avoid it, and it's as random as can be. It is unrelated to fuel brand, but does seem more frequent in the colder months and really hot weather over the summer.

I actually get a "check gauges" message on my display once in a while when it does it, not everytime, but I'm sure it will never do it at the dealership. It's not worth me bringing it in for this problem anyway. It's more of an embarrassment (usually happens in the company of non-ford trucks or cars) than a hindrance.

On a side note, I think losing power or stalling in turns is a significant engine problem that should be checked, not attributed to this starting hiccup.

ReForder, This issue has occured to me and my daughter. After talking about it(few months ago) with her, and relaying my fix to her, the issue has stopped in her mustang. Its something I learned years ago when I had my garages. It is a common issue when the engine has been running and is warm. For the issue of not starting quickly after it is warm try doing what I said. Turn the key on and wait a few seconds, then start. I have never seen the gauge lights though. I am unfamiliar with the other problems about stalling. I am sure it is not a fix all but perhaps it will fix this one small issue. The same thing happens in my wifes Chevy. GL to all and if anyone hears of another fix please post it.

I've also had this happen to me a couple times. I've noticed it happens if I get in and quickly turn the key to start instead of pausing just for a second just before turning from "acc" position to "start" for the fuel pump to get some fuel up.

Same problem with my 05 Lariat, happens a lot. Usually when the truck has been driven and shut off for a short while but has happened first thing in the morning before work. Doesn't seem to be temperature related, does it both on hot days and cold days. Truck usually starts on second try but went into fault mode once and ran like crap (ran ok after a restart). May times get a engine knock when the problem occurs. No fault codes to report except once said fuel cutoff switch was bad. Dealer has been investigating, first time replaced the fuel shutoff but that didn't help. Second time the dealer said it happened when they started it up to drive it into the service bay (Woo Woo). That time they checked the injectors, pulled the plugs, checked the throttle body and re-flashed the computer. That did not fix the problem. Third time they told me it was bad gas and there was nothing they could do. Pissed me off so bad I have not been back since. Basically I'm living with it and waiting for someone to find a solution.

When I first got my 06 it would have trouble starting. My other truck you could touch the key and it would take off, even when -20' but the F-150 seems to need to crank a bit before liting. Also let the fuel gauge come up before cranking it, let her go til it fires. Can someone tell me if you can overcrank it?-does the comp turn off the starter once it senses the engine running? Seems like it does, no problems turning it over at -20' takes a few seconds but starts fine and I hav'nt had the starting issue in some time. Also use octaine 87 with some heet.

I have a 05 F150 with a 5.4. Ford has done recalls on them for bad injectors, This could be all of your troubles, Have them check to see if hey need to be replaced for FREE.
