I have a 2000 4.2L 5 speed f150, reg. cab, short bed. The only mod I have on it right now is a gibson cat back dual exhaust system. I went to the track and my fastest time was a 15.8 at 84 mph. Is that a good time?
Pretty good for a 6 cyl. I'm impressed. Now put a 5000 lb trailer behind it and tell me what you get...
Just to gage it for you, I had a 70 Mustang Coupe with a 351C and C-6 that would do the quarter at about that, something like 15.3sec at 88mph, IIRC.
For the Mustang/muscle car purists, that 351 and C-6 wasn't the original drivetrain the '70 came with. It was from my wrecked '73 Mach 1. The engine was supposed to be a "Cobra Jet," which meant a relabled Hi-Po (what the 351C-4V was called in '71 and '72) and was the '73's largest engine as the 429 CJ last saw a Mustang in '72. It was gutless until the secondaries opened all the way at about 45mph... some weird setup that I never fully comprehended.:-X23 If the carb was setup right, I'm sure the time would have been a second lower and the speed close to 100 through the traps.
