When I turn on the key, the WTS light is on 3-5 seconds, then it starts clicking, it clicks for 5-10 seconds and quits. I have to cycle it like this 4-5 times to get it to start. I imagine it needs som GP's and a contorller. Another question I have is when it does start, its rough for a few seconds and puffs white smoke, then it clears up and runs perfect. Is this just because its currently like 18 Deg F.? Or is it a worn Inj pump and Injectors? Thanks guys!
From your desciption the controler is doing it's normal thing. Being 18 deg it might take more than one cycle. You should try starting it as soon as the WTS light goes out as the glow plugs will cool about as fast as it warms up.
It does sound like the glow plugs should be looked at from your puffing and white smoke. Also don't run starter over 20 seconds then let the starter cool 2 minutes as this will burn out the starter.
If you have a working block heater - plug it in This will save the starter and your nerves. Use a timer and have it start the block heater about 3 hrs ahead of when you want to use the truck.
If your having to cycle it 2-3 times then only cycle until the WTS light goes out, then turn off ignition and immediately go for a restart of GPs. On the third WTS light out go for the start foot to the floor or minimum 1/2 way.
