Fist off i wanted to say hello, and im new to this forum... and i would appreciate any help i can be given to fix this problem.
I have a 1980 ford f150, Im in need of help because i keep losing oil pressure.
I have changed the Main Bearings, and put in a new Oil Pump, also i cleaned the the sludge from the system. Is there anything else i can do to fix this problem?
The orifice of a sending unit can become plugged as well.
Put a mechanical gauge T'd in conjunction with the dash gauge sending unit to know what it is for sure.
There are a number of things that may possibly contribute to a loss of oil pressure and most have been mentioned in other replies. The obvious would be a faulty sending unit or a bad oil filter. The internal issues are bearing clearences. Excessive bearing clearences all affect the oil pressure. You said that you have changed the mains and rod bearings but the cam bearings play an important role in building proper oil pressure. If you determine that the problem is internal, you may as well refresh the engine and start with a fresh build.
