This sucks

Well, my friend was going to get a diesel excursion, and he was all set to do it. Had down payment and everything. Until he found out how much insurance was- 2500. Now he wants to get a cheap jeep. There nothing as cool as having a diesel suv. Personally I'm not that much of a Ford guy - not that there's anything wrong with them - just not that kind of guy. But you have to admit, Ford had something good when they made the diesel excursion, and I'm suprised they stopped making them.

If my name and or insurance quote didn't give it away, lol. He is 18. Speeding, and a at fault non injury, is all. He works for Bragg cranes - a heavy machinery transport company, and he does wide load type deliveries. But he works at least 50 hours every week, and with that much overtime all his paychecks are about 500 a week after tax. He has about 4k to put down. So, he could make it work out if he wanted to. But he said if I cant get this, then I want something that I can build up and maybe even jump.

There's the answer.... his age, speeding, and a wreck already.

I'm 17 and I love my X! Its a 2000 limited 4x4 V10, and its the favorite thing i've driven... (well, besides a porshe I got to drive once...) It's kind of ironic, because the only other cars in my family are my parent's hybrids.

We have a 7x16 enclosed utility (for dirt bikes/4 wheeler) and I love to tow it. I think I have more miles on it than my dad does. I also use the trailer for my work as a Mobile DJ, so driving that thing in big residential neighborhoods is fun

I'm lucky so far in the insurance department though. Right now, my parents pay for my insurance, but they say that I pay for any increase in premiums if I have any accidents/speeding tickets. That's quite an incentive to be a good driver

So yeah, thats why 17/18 yr olds like driving these trucks. They are awesome! You better watch out XylemXorro, when your kids get older, they are gonna want to drive it too

Just my $.02

Isaac

I'll chime in here about the young boys liking the big truck. My 21y.o. and 15y.o. think the X is the coolest ride around. They don't get to drive it though!

Guess I must be stereotyping the X. The only reason I bought it was for the family. I've owned many Ford pick-ups in the past and hopefully I'll own one again once the kids grow older. My ideal truck would be an F350 crew cab dually. And from the info on this thread, looks like I should hold on to the X for the kids
