I have a 2001 F250 CC V10 2WD. Will stock rims and tires from a 2006 fit on my truck. Is it the same bolt pattern. My rims are 16in and the 2006 are 17in.
Long answer: The '05-'07 model year Super Duties have larger rotors that require a minimum of a 17" rim in order to clear the caliper & rotor. These model years also have coil spring front ends, as opposed to the leaf springs in the previous model years. This resulted in a change to the offset used on the rims.
It doesn't sound like the rim size will be a factor, as you want to put '06 rims on an '01, but the offset is deeper on the new rims, and it will likely create clearance issues with the leaf springs.
He's correct. The offset difference is a little over an inch. The bolt pattern will fit, but an 06 wheel is going to sit in too far. Conceivably, you could go the other way; older to newer, if you didn't mind the wheels sticking out the extra inch or so, and if the old wheel cleared the calipers.
But the other way around it wont fit right and will look screwy anyway.
He wouldn't be able to get the '01 rims on the '06, as they '06 requires rims at least 17" in diameter to clear the caliper & rotor. Which is why I worded my original reply the way I did...just in case a swap in that direction came up.
From what I have heard they will fit with a set of spacers, you need about 1 1/2 inch of space to clear the suspension. 170mm to 170 mm spacers. I'm not a big fan of spacers though.
