I am having a problems with my door locks on a 99 F150 Supercab 4x4. My remote button only works on unlocking the drivers door sometimes, and not at all on the passenger side door. As far as locking the door, neither doors locks when the remote button is pushed. In addition, the lock/unlock button on the armrests inside dont do anything either. When you push them they dont have any effect. The only way to lock or unlock the truck right now is with a key. Anybody have any suggestions about what this could be, or whether this would be a simple fix. Could it be the door lock acctuator? Oh yeah, when i push the remote buttons, i can hear some activity inside the door, so i know it isnt the battery and it does sound like the signal is getting through. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have the same issue on my 99 F150 supercab w/ 4.6 v8.
When the keyless doesn't work the door electronics don't work. Sometimes when I lock the doors the passenger side locks, but not the driver side. I do hear noises in the doors like they are trying to move.
Do you know if I just replace the master acctuator in the drivers door, or do I need to replace both. And yes, I do hear noises in the door with either the remote or when i push the lock/unlock button on the door. Also, anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get this fixed. Also, while i have your attention I am having a coupe other problems. First, sometimes out of the blue, my windshield wiper will go on, sometimes just once sometimes twice, without pushing any button. Second, my odometer will sometimes go blank. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing these problems, and how to fix them. Thanks for the help.
You probably have to replace both actuators. The one in the driver's door works the same as in the passenger's door...it isn't a "master".
The wiper problem could be due to a faulty multifunction (wiper) switch or maybe a GEM problem......water intrusion possibly. Until it does it more consistantly or you can make it do it, you're going to have a hard time diagnosing it without just throwing parts at it. In ny experience usually when the odometer goes out the instrument cluster is dieing and has to be replaced.
I have the same problem with the passenger door locking when the button is pushed but not the drivers side. But it doesnt happen all the time, probably about 50/50. Has anyone ever heard or having to push the button on the remote to be able to start the truck. I bought my truck used and the told me it was a security thing I just have'nt seen anyone else with this.
