oil pump replaced
Bought my '99 7.3 used, with 104,000 miles. The engine would whine like low power steering fluid. After warming up it would go away. It started having slow starts, and start stall condition. On a hard, high rpm pull the oil guage would bounce up and down. I replaced the oil pump on the crank shaft on the front of the engine. It looked just fine, with just the slightest wear, only seen by shining light down one of the vanes and a hint of light crossing over to the other channel. Ever since, It fires right up, stays lit, no whine and no more pressure loss. Hopefully no damage to turbo or Anything else. Have put 20,000 miles on since. No failures. P.S I run DELO 400 oil. 15w-40.
