3 or 4 speed??

3 or 4 speed??
I have a 84 ranger Im working on, It has the v6 Some one said it had a four speed auto in it. I was thinking it would be a three speed Any one know what it might be? If I had the motor in it I would just take it for a spin and find out But the motor is on the stand in my shop

Door tag or VIN might tell the tale.
Check this too:
On the shifter, is there an OD button on the end of the lever?
What does your shift quadrant look like?
P R N 0 D 1
P R N D 2 1
or what?
A button on the end, or an 0 D 1 quadrant would indicate an OD or 4 speed trans.
