Starting problem
I have a 1988 bronco with a 5.8. The engine runs strong and solid but sometimes has problems starting. It usually starts right up when the engine is cold but after using it and warming up it will sometimes drag like a dead battery. You can let it sit a few minutes or continue to try to crank it and it will suddenly crank up normally and start. The enging did have a rear seal leak before so I was thinking maybe oil build up on the starter fouling it up. I was fixing to check and clean all cables from the battery, solenoid, starter, any other suggestions before I start trouble shooting?
2º Cables
3º Solenoid
4º Starter (Bushing, brush, coils insulation)
5º Timing
6º Spark plugs (carbon deposits)
7º Low octane fuel in hot weaters/engine
8º Too high compression by carbon deposits at pistons crown
