Well, I have 3 rear intermediate springs broken on the drivers side and one on the passenger side, is it safe to drive for a while like this if I don't put cargo in the back?
Thanks for your replies
you have to watch that they dont come out and take out a tire.. the broken pieces will move around I drove mine that way for a couple days just take it easy.. watch the bumps put something around them to keep them in place some hose clamps or wrap them..but its not a good thing.. good luck
Watch the bumps, once they start breaking the rest seem to break faster.
Dave,
I am not a suspension specialiste, could you tell me how to measure the "lift" on the rear of my truck? I found a site here in France that sell "Ironman" leaf springs but I need to know the "lift" I need for the order! I believe I have the stock leaf springs in both front and rear.
Thanks,
saigon
I would assume the lift is what we would call the arch here.
I could give you my arch numbers after I measure it, but since I have added 7 leaves to each rear spring I am not sure you would want to run what I am for springs.
Rides like a true road wagon till you have at least 1.5 tons on it.
Takes 2.5 tons before it hits the overloads.
If someone running regular springs wants to measure from the spring bolt centerline to the bottom of the spring in the center where it sits on the block, I think that is the number Saigon needs.
I guess I could just measure down 5 leaves on my main spring and give you that number, it would be close.
Stock springs have 5 leaves in the rear and two leaves in the front.
