56 F100 - CHEV ENGINE!
Gentleman, I am lucky I am in Australia and none of you can throw stones this far. I have a 56 F100 that I am 'rodding. The '59 Ford 352 is out, and in is going a Chev...PERIOD! Has anyone else done this and is game enough to talk to me? I am still deciding 454 vs 350. Being a Ford man for many years this is a tough task, but parts, cost, and performance give me no other choice. Does anyone know of a decent on-line source of info on Chen Engines, performance, specs etc? Thanks for your time. Keep on truckin'.

Hey chevy engine no problem. It's done all the time. Try on the internet at the keyword "Fat Fendered Street Rod" or "Mid Fifty F-100 Parts" or
you might try "Nolimit.net". All are just some of the places you can get started at. Fat Man Fabrications is another good one thier Ph # is 704-545-0369. You might also subscribe to Classic Trucks magazine at 1-800-777-6394. I have personally used all of these at one time or another on my 53 f-100.
Good Luck Down Under

Also rodding my 53 Effie. Local racing engine builder is working on my generation V big block 454. He is going to punch it out to a 502 cu in monster. Frame has been boxed and cross members welded in to help keep this ride together. Ill let you know it works out along the way. I thought about putting a ford big block but cost and limited accessories for the fo mo co engine tie your hands. Good luck. BH

This is real easy to do; all it takes is a few basic hand tool's, some parts catalogs, and one fool. Yes, it's cheaper; yes its easy; yes everyone does it. But this sounds like a good reason to just buy a Chevy truck. I know that 'down under' things cost a bit more, but you could at least try to keep it Ford. There's a guy on the flathead list that lives in Sweden that kept his flathead going Now, that's tough. It's all a matter of how bad you want it. If you're looking for the easy way, you found it. I'm not trying to throw stones. But I feel very strong about keeping a Ford a Ford. And yes I signed my name and a real email address.
