i have a 93 7.3 with 135000 miles its a 2x4 single cab long bed im thinking of lifting it but dont know how much and should i use blocks or the expensive system
Louder is easy, remove the muffler.
That will also help it run better.
Replacing the stock Ford exhaust with a 3" or bigger will also help it run better.
Modifying the stock air intake snorkel will also help it run better.
Black smoke requires more fuel.
Before you turn the fuel up, you need to install a pyrometer.
More fuel means more heat, that heat can damage the engine if you have no way to monitor the exhaust temps.
Black smoke is wasted fuel, the result of not enough air for the amount of fuel injected to burn completely. So that means it is power that is going out the exhaust pipe instead of to the wheels where you want it.
