Which One?

I have always liked the ’73-’79 trucks. I am considering trying to pickup a ’73-’79 F250 4X4. My plan for the truck would include snowplow duty of just a couple driveways, some towing (single car trailer) and maybe some very light off road work. It would not be a daily driver so I am leaning toward a big block. Is there one of these years that might be better than the others?

I had a chance to buy what was probably the perfect truck for this several years ago. My brother in law had a ’76 F250 4X4 with a 428 in place of the 360, 4:88 gears. It only got about 8mpg but it had major power!! AND I HAD TO PASS ON IT!!!

Welcome to the site

Ford didn't put anything larger than a 400 into a 4x4 until 1983.

Any more cubes than that will have to be swapped in.

For real power you could upgrade the 400 to a perfomance engine.
One guy here has one putting out 700 HP.

An 79 F-350 4x4 would be the beefiest for snow clearing.

Btw, please put the actual topic in the title so we know what the gist of the thread is about and oter people searching will find the thread easier

The user with the built 400's is Shazam. However, I don't think he has posted in quite some time.

He later on posted about the increased HP & Torque in another thread I can't find right now.
