Did 1949 Fords have 298c.i. Engines... origanlly?

Not from the factory.....V8's were 239.4 cid flatheads as Henry made them through 1953.

Ford the f-1's, f-2's, and f-3's, a 95hp straight six (226) was standard with the option to upgrade to a 100hp flathead v8 (239). The bigger trucks (cab overs) had bigger engines also.
