I just bought a SCT Xcal2 for my 05 PSD. The stock tunes that came with it caused the truck to act irradically. I called Autoanything/Motorhaven for support and they said I needed to talk to the SCT. I thought the dealers provided the tune packages? I called SCT and Nick was very helpful and sent me 2 tunes, and let me know there was a known issue with the base tunes. However once I uploaded them I no longer have any other options such as tire size, shift firmness, ect. I would like to have the basic tunes I always see advertised for tuners (towing, performace, race). Any input is appreciated.

You bought this from MotorHaven? When? If you just bought recently, you bought an Xcal2 SF, which is not tuned by the dealers but instead pre-loaded with SCT's tunes. That's why they sent you to SCT to have the tunes updated. Motorhaven only does custom tunes these days for local customers, and previous customers.
I just ordered the SCT Xcal2 for my 5.4L F250 and i think it must be the SF version because i havent had it tuned by anyone. Will i have the same problem as jfletcher?
I have an xcaliber II that was custom tuned by Troyer Performance. You can get these tuners either with "canned" tunes or fully custom tunes which are wrote based on your PCM strategy code. SCT stands for Superchips Custom Tuner. The red tuner referred to is the Flashpaq.
RIsuperduty89 - I don't know what you paid for the tuner but if you need to buy custom tunes for it, you may have about the same money as if you would have bought a new one.

My truck is a 6.0ltr diesel... and apparently my sypmtoms were well known, because after some thead seaches I see I am not the only one with the issue. This was due to the new flash I got Ford.
Okay, for SF devices SCT loads it with one size fits all tunes. However, one size really doesn't fit all. Sometimes you need to get custom tunes. Email SCT and ask them to resend the tunes, but this time unlock the options so you can change them. There's no reason why they shouldn't unlock them, it only takes 30 seconds more when writing the file to disk.

Do the box or instructions say "SF" anywhere?
Well..all I can say is I feel like I got robbed of $380 from Motorhaven. The reason I bought from them was all the past discussion I read and how they did custom tunes. I finally got the "canned" tune from SCT and they SUCK! Hardly any noticable power change. At least with the tune that cause my original issue I could feel the difference in power. Now I will have to shell out another 100-150 bucks to get a tune that makes a difference from another dealer since Im not local or a returning customer. Motorhaven should really make the customer aware of what they are getting when a tuner is purchased. Make this an offical "BUYER BEWARE" when it comes to buying a tuner from Motorhaven/Autoanything. Any tune dealers out there willing to do a basic performance tune cheap?
