Strange noise
Just another in the list of oddities and strange noises. It started off with a clicking sound at low speed the it turned into almost a creak like an old rocker. I pulled the back brakes apart,as the front wer NEW AT 33,OOO MILES!!! but thewas nothing. I cleaned them up washed off a little rust and went back on my way. I went to South Georgia, about 1400 miles away from home, loaded up and drove back. No power up or down hills allthe way but I was very loaded so I wrote it off to that. Well, got back and really tore into it he next weekend. There was now just a hair of play in my driveshaft. I figured it couldnt hurt cause I was out of ideas. Threw a new front Ujoint in it (there's like 3 part numbers) and ! poof ! Noise is gone. There was NO GREASE WHATSOEVER i my factory ujoints and the edges of the gears had started to wear off.! But my rotors nearly exploded at 33,000 so should I be surprised? Not madjust warning and wondering anyone else has the same issues. I had a 92 4.0 before the 03 3.0 and my pads never wore out before my rotors, which is why I found it strange.
