np435 behind a 250?

This has probably already been discussed or asked, but with such common terms, I was unable to dig up anything usefull with the search feature. My question is simple, can an np435 be run behind a 250 I6? Will it bolt up or do I need to track down an adapter? If so, who makes an adapter?

I have a '66 Bronco that currently has the 170 and the 3sp manual transmission. I have a 2wd np435 that I understand can be mated to my dana 20 with an adapter. I am also planning to swap a 250 into the bronco at the same time, hence the question regarding the 250 and np435 compatability.

Also, since I do not have a 250 yet, does anybody have any ideas on where to aquire one. I am in the St. Louis, MO area, and so far, I have not been able to find one. I have been keeping an eye on the classifieds without much luck. Thanks, Morgan.

If you have a manual transmission with a removable bell housing, I think you can bolt the 435 to the bell. However, I am not sure if there is a difference in input shaft length, or pilot bushing diameter.

Nothing against the 435, but you might want to consider others with a syncro first gear.

It's no problem, I already have one truck with the np435 and one with the t18 already. The few times that I have needed to get into 1st gear on the fly I've been able to double clutch it and stay on the move.

Does anybody know for sure if these two will bolt up? I'll find out when I finally track down a 250 but I'd like to know ahead of time.

The 300 & the 250 have the same bell housing, which is the same as the 302. Be carefull of 302 flywheels though, the 250 (& 300) are internally ballanced, unlike the 302.
