05 expedition brake controller question

ive got an 05 expedition with the towing package that just has the 4 pin harness on the back. but i found the hookup harness under the dash for a brake controller. can i still use this harness to hook up the controller. I'll be putting a 7 pin connector on the back of the expedition. thanks for any info

I don't think you have the towing package; if you did, you'd already have the 7-pin connector. You'll have to run wiring for a 7-pin (hopefully just a pigtail), plus probably have to add some relays along with the controller.

I THINK you can unplug the 4-pin harness at the rear and just plug in a 7-pin harness (the other wires should be run that far). Hopefully, an Expy expert will chime in to tell you exactly where that rear connector is (if you can't find it by following the 4-pin harness forward) and also what relays, if any, you'll need. If you're still shopping for controllers, I'd recommend the Prodigy with a Ford harness that plugs into your connector under the dash.
