I may regret opening up this can of worms but I have heard very little about recent 6.0 problems. Sure there are the odd problems but not to the extent we had several years ago. My friend that is a Ford diesel Tech has said that his dealership is very slow and he's is working on gas rigs because there are no diesels to work on. This is a complete about face from last year when he was working around the clock and still souldn't keep up. So for the techs out there are you seeing the same thing or are we the odd ones with no problem 6.0's in the area.
What the 6.0 had problems???
Mine has 60,000 miles 2004 never a seconds trouble!!
20 MPG and outran a new GTO last week.
I am glad to hear you have had no problems. My 06 has had absolutely nothing, nill, nada. But the 03 I had was in the shop quite regularly... Mostly Turbo issues, wire chaffing etc. You guys with the 2x4's seem to get about 2 mpg more than us 4x4's I stay around 14 mpg in town and 18 hwy.
it is slow at work for me as well. cant tell if it is our manager or if we have fixed them all lately.
BTH: Thank you for the reply and I am honestly believing with the latest turbo revision and the new strategy for the injectors we will be hearing even less and less. I hate to see it get slow for the Techs as they need the work but on the flip side it is nice to know we have very reliable engine in the 6.0!!!!!!!
I was taking off as the light turned green and a car beside me nailed it and it sounded healthy so I kicked the powerstroke and he couldnt get past my back door then I gained on him and as he pulled in behind me I saw the GTO emblem on the front. And I thought they were supposed to be fast.
Nothing like embarrasing them in an 8,000 pound truck... I just cant help it...LOL
If you beat a new GTO then there was something wrong with it, or the driver was toying with you. As for the 6.0L issues, the dealers around me have plenty of them in the shop. My 03 was a junker but so far my 07 seems much better. Time will tell it only has 1000 miles on it so far?
My 2003 F350 had a rebuilt short block installed January 2006 because of oil leaks, and now has a leaking rear main seal and a crack in the block somewhere. Waiting on the dealership and Ford to decide what to do. (RMS also replaced 3 months after the new short block was installed). Maybe the newer ones have the bugs worked out, but mine is still a work in progress.
