Header/motor brain tease
Here you go guys...
Just put in a used motor 302 in my 87 bronco. Put on some headers, truck runs like crap... a lot of shudder and severe lack of power. Trouble shooting evidence is as follows.
-Don't know the cylinder numbers but passenger side middle two header tubes the paint has not burnt off when all other six have.
-KOEO code is 11
- Continuous codes are 63 and 33, replaced TPS...still chasing EGR
-replace tranny/TQ oil and filter, added anti shudder and Seafoam...tranny's been sitting a while, but worked fine when parked (1 1/2 years).
Any help would be appreciated.

straight swap from my '89. Ohmed my plug wires got 3-4k for the whole wire.
Plugs looked ok. Haven't done a compression test, but that I am pretty sure will lead me to what I think it is...since the two cylinders are adjacent, I am thinking head gasket between them.
I guess that would cause one hell of a shudder too huh...

I don't have a cylinder number map and distributor cap plug configuration...I matched them up to the motor I pulled which was not bothered...but that doesn't mean I did it right.
I am going to search online for them...
I believe it is a stock cam, plugs looked ok, compression test hopefully tonight.
I will double check my haynes manual and check my plug wire configuration.

make sure the plug wires are not touching each other or crossed. ive messed up the firing order myself a few times getting in a hurry.

score. cyl 2/3 were swapped. the funny thing is, i did a one for one swap, then checked it against my other motor. BOTH motors were swapped, look back to my 2003 posts and me complaining about lack of power. Not ONCE did I ever check the plug wire map. I get the dumb A$$ award. Threw rooster tails 15 ft, couldn't even spin tires in grass before. No wonder I got my other bronco so cheap, he couldn't figure it out either...
I appreciate the help guys...you saved my bronco from the nearest cliff!

It just sucks that I have been pissed off at my bronco power since 2003 and missed all that fun!
Still don't know if the shudder is gone yet, drove good in 1st and 2nd, haven't tried OD, the wife and I just got seperated and she loves the truck...if she thinks it is fixed, then she will want to take it from me...
