What year is this?

Is this a 57 ??

What size? Guards look like they have large openings, but the chassis looks like F-100

OK, so it IS a 57, cool.

But is it an F-100? The guards look different to the ones in this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...storation.html

I know thats a '59.......but Aren't 57 guards supposed to have the flat section and smaller opening like the '59 ?

I don't really know about that, but the frame is too short to be a heavier truck. Right?

I THINK it is a F-600ish cab on an F-100 chassis.

I also think it's not a 57 chassis, but rather a 53-56.

After searching the web for pictures and posting here.....I looked at the calendar next too my desk to check a date in February and realised that the feature truck for Feb is......a 57 styleside F-100....I KNEW I had seen a pic somewhere

Yep the guards are big truck.......which brings up the next question....

Is it just the guards that are different, or do the grill, apron etc all need changing to turn this cab into an F-100

Background is that another rodder here has decided to sell it and has offered me first bid, but I need to get my head around what bits I need before I plonk the $$$ down.

I am only interested as a fix and resell project to get some cash together.....but 57 resale prices are way down compared to 53-55, and I have a line on one of those cheaper than this.

+ I KNOW I won't fall in love with a 53-55, but a '57 I might.

Yes it is a 57 - do you have a Vin number? It should be inside the glove box door, and stamped on the right frame rail near the front cab mount. With that your questions can be answered for sure.

I have a 57 F100 cab apart in my yard and can measure anything you might question.

Exclamation 1957 info

According to the 1957-1963 Ford truck parts book..

The grilles (B7C-8200-A/B) are the same from F100 thru F900.

There are two lower aprons. B7C-8188-A fits F100-F600; B9TB-8188-C fits F700-F900.

There are two different hoods. B7C-16612-A fits F100-F600; C0TB-16612-D fits F700-F900

There are two different fenders: B7C-16005/6-A fits F100-F350 with 15" or 16" wheels; B7Y-16005/6-A fits F350-F900 with 17.5" 19.5" or 22.5" wheels.

Question

What parts are you refering to as "guards?" Frame horns?

I am guesssing that he means front fenders, by him saying "openings" and refering to the larger trucks.

The language barrier strikes again

Here is a quick Aussie to US conversion chart..........

Guards = Fenders

Bonnet = Hood

Tray = Bed

Valance = Apron

Boot = Deck lid or Trunk

And of course.......Drivers = passengers and Passengers = Drivers

The seller says the emblems on the hood are F-600, but that it looks like the body has been on that chassis for a LONG time

Probably a F-600 that was turned into a F-100 clone MANY years ago........it's always been done here as we had so few little trucks produced/imported.

LOL...well I guess George Bernard Shaw should have included Australia when he said..."England and America...two people separated by a common language!"

I seem to recall...Wings=fenders; Tyres=tires. Speed bumps in the US are called "sleeping policemen" in the UK. And if you see a sign stating.."park off pavement" in the UK, that doesn't mean park on the sidewalk...it means..park off the sidewalk!

Yes, I've driven in the UK.
