Help with 86 F150
I am needing some help solving a problem. This is my grandfathers truck and he gave it to me to see if I could fix, because the shop that was doing work from him was really taking him to the cleaners on this. I get the run around as well since I am a woman, So any advice you can give will be appreachated
The truck cranks up and runs really good, it sounds really nice, but once you are on the road and get the truck up to 20 to 25 mph it starts to sputter and then the engine dies, completely. The engine heats up but not in the red zone and the check engine light dose not come on. If you let it cost for a while some times longer than others you can recrank it and it will run for a while until you get to 20 to 25 again. I have replaced the high and low fule pumps, the fule injectors as well as the distrubitor and the exchange on the inside of the grill. I have been told try the Throttle Possition Sensor and replacing the computer? Ihave been told it sounds like there is no pressure in the fule lines, but on a back road around here when it cut out I left it in neutral and got underneith the truck to check the fule lines and there is plently of pressure, so much when i messed with them I got shot in the face with gas. I was thinking maybe some thing to do with the theomoter, or water pump? Maybe it thinks its getting to hot and it cuts out? PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. I am very frustrated with this, and I keep getting the run around with repair shops and part supply stores!
2nd) please post in FTE default Font
Although it can be Fun.....Color font can not be read by everyone, some of us have to change it to normal text to actually be able read it to be helpful with an answer. (Readers shouldn't have to do all the work)
Authors should.
3rd) You need to pull the codes.
Since the advent of Computers in vehicles.....Human diagnosis became more difficult because so many things were ECC controlled.
You can buy an EQUUS code reader for cheap...run the codes and the info you require is listed here.
