Where is the switch that lets the inside light know when the door is open. Mine is messed up and the light doesnt always go off when you close the drivers door. Most trucks are out in the open but I can't seem to find this one. It is a 98 ford ranger.
Thanks,
Lars
The door ajar switch IS NOT in the door jamb area. It is on the latch assembly in the door, just like Jimdandy said. Try spraying the door latch (in the door) liberaly with WD-40, then open/close the door several times, and it should free the switch up....
Bob hit it on the money. All Fords with this type of switch experience this problem. If you want to tear the door apart and replace the latch assembly go ahead, but for me....I like the WD-40 trick. I'm not spending my hard earned money and time to replace that switch with another one that will do the same thing. I have to spray 5 cents worth of WD in my doors once a year. The price of one latch will allow me to spray for many years to come.
