New guy with a 97 F150, 4.6, K&N air filter, 265,000 miles. I had a few problems this past week, most of which I think are cleared up now. I do have a couple more bugs to work out. Seems to be running fine.
1. Check Engine light is on. Codes EGR. What is the best course of action to solve this? I was told this could be one of several things. Don't want to spend a ton changing out sensors.
2. Backup lights don't work. They haven't for some time. (New Bulbs). They would work sometime if I moved the shift lever half way between Park and Reverse. Took it Ford dealer and was told the switch on the Trans. was good and set properly. After I left, they don't work at all. Is there another switch besides the one on transmission?
Slsharratt, you don't say what engine or year your truck is, but I suspect you are talking about a P0401 code. Do a search for that code and you'll see that it is very unlikely that the EGR valve is the problem.
