Just pulled a 3.55 posi rear from a 90 f-150 at the local U-pull it (in the car yard ?!?). Drum to drum with sway bar $80. Once I put it in my 86 I'll finally be able to do a real burnout, no more one legger...
Sweet score man should post some pics if you can i would like to see how hard it would be and or what you would have to do i know its pretty much straight forward i would like to do this myself when it warms up and spring comes this non limited slip sucks
I just kept looking for a truck with axle code H9 (3.55 LS) and then looked at the stamped tag on the axle which said 3L55, which is a code for 3.55 LS.
It was at a U-Pull-It yard so I had to do the grunt work. They used a fork lift to raise the truck and I used old wheels under the frame to support it. I was lucky, someone else took the drive shaft out before I got there.
I removed the lower shocks, cut the e-brake cables, cut the swaybar links and removed the 8 nuts on the ubolts. I had a jack under the rear and when the ubolts were out, I lowered the jack and drug it out. Took about 30-40 minutes not counting the time waiting for the forklift to come over...
Swapping it in will be a little harder because I'll have to reuse my ebrake cables and I'm going to put new brakes, wheel cylinders and the like on at the same time. I'm also going to open the rear up, pull the axles and replace the seals at a minimum, maybe axle bearings too.
If I remember I'll take pictures and post them when I swap it in the truck.
