I've seen them stuck in the median on the interstate, but didn't even think about helping them out, b/c they NEVER helped me out of anything.
Thats a nice attitude to have but I guess if they were in the median they were probably runing radar and screwing with people. Mabey he derserved to be stuck.
And maybe he DIDN'T deserve to be stuck, but you'd never know, would you, because you never think to help them out. Yup......running radar is just screwing with people....God forbid they should like, you know, catch speeders or something. How dare they.
And maybe they were trying to cross the median for a reason different from screwing with people.

I might not know for 100% that a cop was screwing with people, but when I see tracks going through the median all in the same general spot.... basically from cops pulling people over.
I got a ticket for going 75 on the interstate, and he picked me out of a group of cars all going the same speed(basically), and he crossed the median to do this.
I understand.... he should pull soone over for going 5mph over the speed limit, and take 20 minutes to give that person a ticket when he could of let him go and found someone going 90mph and give them the ticket instead...
I don't recall ever seeing a cop stuck. I'd put the chain to him, though. Good public relations.
The best I've done is two single axle drivers semi trucks.
We have a four-way next to where I work that is on the side of a hill. I go out and get all the little cars out of the intersection when it snows. The trucks try to get around the corner but get their trailer wheels stuck on the curb. These trucks were much bigger than what I normally fool with.
Each time there was a bit of ice on the pavement under the snow, and the street hadn't been plowed for a while. The first truck had a regular box trailer, but the second truck was a Pabst beer truck. I thought that was pretty cool.
No, I didn't get an free beer.
But when I came back into the building, it seems that everybody inside had been watching the action from the windows and I got a huge round of applause.
I've had a lot of speeding tickets in my life, but I've deserved every one. Maybe you deserved the one you got too?
Don't hassle the cops, they don't get to make the laws. Write a letter to whoever it is that sets the speed limits in your area.
Yup......running radar is just screwing with people....God forbid they should like, you know, catch speeders or something. How dare they.
They have a lot more important things they could be doing. They get to choose what they inforce. Speeding should not be inforced. Just because some idiot can't handle his vehicle at the speeds that I drive does not justify punishing me. Some people can't drive safe doing the speed limit. A good driver can safely drive in excess of the speed limit.
A good driver can safely drive in excess of the speed limit.
i've kept from gettin in so far but this last statement has to be addressed!
that has nothign to do with it.... its the margin of safety you allow yourself when going a certain speed. the quality of driver has NO bearing on whether you hit the deer that jumped 5 feet in front of your truck. if you are doing 80mph, well you had better say a prayer... however if you are doing the speed limit (say 45) yes you will still hit it but it wont be near the damage!
it doesnt matter, we all get speeding tickets and i'd say 99% of them were deserved. if you dont have a badge you have no right to say what an officer should or shouldnt be doing, its not your call. let them do their jobs and how about slow down rather than b1tch about it?!?! i love the fact that our officers are out clocking people, people need to slow the hell down!
its pretty sad that some of you out there are glad when cops get stuck, its not gonna be real funny to you when you're in serious trouble and te cop closest to you gets stuck and cant get there!
this can be argued all day long and this is NOT the topic, so lets drop it before we rouse the mods up

Thanks for the above, fishmanndotcom, but I'll just add a couple comments (keeping it clean) and silently steal away.
Robin....when you're talking interstates and medians and radar, you're basically (with exceptions) talking about Highway Patrol. When you're talking about Highway Patrol, you're basically (with exceptions) talking about traffic enforcement on the highways (speeding, etc.) and investigating wrecks (usually caused by speeding, or falling asleep, or DWI). Regarding this, the Highway Patrol does NOT have more important things to be doing....they are doing exactly what the Governor and the State pays them to do....Enforce traffic laws on the highways.
Catching speeders is one of these jobs. If you want to talk about speeding laws "screwing" with people, you might want to throw the barbs at the elected legislators (state and federal) who make the laws. I'm sorry, but post #21 just sounds like traffic anarchy (everyone, just do what you feel like you can handle).
I'm fairly sure that those cops that spend all day pulling people over were instructed to do so by their superior officer, who is instructed to do so by the local politicians who pay his or her salary. In the end, that's why they do traffic enforcement, because the politicians you elect DEMAND it.
No individual cop wakes up one morning and decides that they will ignore the robberies and murders to write tickets. That's not how it works.
ive gotten out of a helluva lot more tickets than i have gotten, the other guys are right the cop is doing his job. the are people too, treat them with courtesy and respect and dont lie to them. you might just be surprised. I have never not offered assistance to a cop in need. maybe it is a karma thing. yeah, you should not have been wheeling on private property with out permission but you did good going back to help the cop. just my .02, Dan
Just tell them you pay their salary, they'll let you off.
Seriously though, when a cop pulls you over for doing 60 in a 55 with no other cars around on an open stretch of road.. I think the cop should find something better to do with his time.
that random pullover that appears to be bull****** to you, actually yields a surprising number of dirtbags pulled off the streets. I'm not saying it isn't a hassle and that there might be something else he could be doing. he is after all doing his job in his patrol sector. and 60 is speeding in a 55. They often pull over apparent random stops, then run the info and lo and behold we got us a dirtbag. next thing you know another dirtbag behind bars. Give'm a break, nobody goes to your work and tells you how to cook french fries! Allright i'm just kidding i've wanted to throw that line all my life. lol. Just treat them good with a smile on your face next time they get you for knowingly speeding, you are alright but the next guy may not be. , Dan

No but the very fact that you are breaking the LAW does!
If I ever came across an officer in need and could do something even just lending him my cell phone to call it in...I would. I guess people forget that officers are people just like them...if you were in his situation wouldnt you like to have somone try and help you?

I pulled a county deputy out of a ditch. He was greatful, said he wouldn't have to tell on himself for getting stuck. But I offered to pull out a CHP, and he said no, I would be creating a hazard. (Any more than he was?) I think he was just embarrassed that he had screwed up judging from his attitude.

There are so many laws in the book that every car on the road is breaking some law. Every one should treat others as they want to be treated and I don't know any police that wants a speeding ticket.
