I just bought a new battery tray to fit a modern battery in my 56. Now I unbolted the original tray, but it is still stuck to the running board mount. It looks like a lot of rust or battery acid has leaked over the area where it is stuck. My question is whether the tray was welded there originally or is it the rust/acid holding it on. I just wanted to know before I start trying to rip the thing out with assorted tools. Thanks in advance. Craig
I think it ajust unbolts, but mine was gone when I got my '56.

I recently changed my tray on a '56 F-350. There are two bolts and nuts holding the tray to the running board brace. Took lots of WD-40 and wire-brushing, but I got them out. By the way, I went to a '55 tray, because it fits the Optima battery better than the '56 tray. There were two more holes in the frame to fit it, and two other holes in the running board brace, also. Hope this helps, though I'm sure it's a little late. I just signed on today.
Thanks for the advice. I actually figured it out long ago. A lot of battery fluid had leaked onto the tray and made the bolts stick. A couple hits with the hammer knocked out the bolts and tray. I had to drill some holes in my 55 battery tray to make it secure in the compartment but it fits quite nicely now. Thanks for tryin to help
