I have a 7/98 F250 SD 4x4 5.4L triton. I parked it and when I came back couldn't move the steering wheel without putting my back out.(there was no reduction in power steering prior to this). The wheels turn under force but I'm not going to attempt to drive it. I suspected the power steering: belt ok, ps pump going round, no squeaks or noises, ps fluid ok. So I checked the brakes, again fluid ok but pedal pushes nearly to the floor. I searched the forums and there seems to be many similar problems although they do not appear to be as severe. I have read that the hydroboost is shared by both systems so will ask my mechanic to look, bleed the system.
