The old non-wastegated kits rely on engine tune/mods to build boost. They usually built around 10+ psi, but could go to 12 pretty easy with a little better flowing muffler and another flat or two on the pump screw.
sorry guys, i was out of state with a delivery since 5 am yesterday.
my 88 will make 14 lbs boost now with the C6 trans in it at full pedal stomp and 3300rpm.
when i had the 5 speed in it, it would pin the boost gauge.
these results are with no exhaust, and the pump turned up 4 flats, and 1,000º + egt's.
well the no exhaust is a bit of an exageration.
it comes from the down pipe to a 3 inch splitter, then to 4 inch stacks in the bed.
This is my first post...The amount of info on this site is increadable. Thanks to all of the smart and experienced contributors and for sharing. I purchased a used Banks for my '94 F-250 IDI for $300 complete with gauges without pipes however. I broke the factory installed one (long story). I noticed the original post is from Michigan. If you live anywhere near Pontiac, there is a guy that bent all of my tubes (3" except for the 2.5" down pipe) for $400 cash. I supplied the muffler and a flange to the exhaust side of the turbo (which it looks like you have) he did the rest. Nice job too. I can give you his name and number if you win or have won the e-bay bid. Thanks again and the '94 is an extended cab with a goose neck hitch and western plow mount with about 50,000 miles on a complete rebuild if anyone is interested in purchasing it.
