Question C6 Trans Question

Hi all.
I have a 85 F150 4x4 with a 351W HO and C6 auto trans. I currently have the truck stored at a friends as I'm not using it right now. Every weekend I start the truck and drive it a few miles just to keep "using" it. The past two weekends though I have had what I think is minor problem develope. I start the truck up, back it out of the shed and put it in drive. Only problem is it won't go into drive. At this point it won't go back into reverse either. I will have no gears at all. I let it sit running for a minute or two and then it will shift into gear. After that it will drive fine, shifts into all three forward gears and reverse. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the modulator valve at the trans. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
4fords

Check your fluid levels, i know its kinda obvious. Filter could be plugging up also. or there are some seals internally that go bad. My buddy is the tranny man, I will ask him tonight and pick his brain for ya.

Sounds to me like you might have a sticky valve in the control module along with fluid dirty. When/if you drop the pan to change the fluid and filter I would pull the module out and check the screen on top. If it and the filter are dirty, you probably need to dissasemble and clean the valves and other parts. They are what controls a C-6 and directly connected to the gear shift lever.
