I guess there isn't much call for a small pick up with a diesel, even though the rest of the world is privy to such models made by the likes of nissan, toyota and a few others. I for one like the smaller truck frame and would thoroughly enjoy a diesel engine as I help my friend collect and clean cooking oil to run in his f250. Anyway i don't mind my 4.0L 97 has plenty of power. Speaking of power, I can't seem to find anywhere what my torque is at different RPMS any help would be appreciated.

"I really like what I see downunder at Ford Australia. I think this does a good job to match you criteria. A new 2.5L turbo diesel, with 140HP and 28.3mpg. There's a 3.0L diesel also. Don't know why we can't have those engines here....I suppose emission issues."
What he left out was the 243 lb.ft. torque output of that 4 cyl. turbo diesel. WOW!!, how is that for low end grunt? Do we have to go to Aussie land to get this real workhorse? I love it. Why doesn't Ford bring it here. If Ford and others can deal with diesel emissions issues with the bigger engines, is it that difficult to do the same for a small 4 cylinder one?
I wonder what a diesel engine in a Ranger would do to the price? The powerstroke brings almost a 6K sticker price so I wonder if a 4cyl turbo diesel in a ranger would bring another 2K or so?
