i get a rear end clunk when i step on the gas and when i am in park on a hill then put it back in gear it clunks and when im driveing slow it makes a poping sound from the back of the truck... I THINK it might be my back 2 bodybushing but im not sure... is thare something in the back that could make a poping sound why going slow and makeing turns....
AND how do you get the dipstick tube back into the transmission because im leaking fluid out of that spot... do you have to push the tube back into the hole really hard ??
It could be that the popping sound is the driveshaft yolk u-joint going bad. Its normal for it to clunk when putting it in gear because the driveshaft makes about 1/2 a turn to take up the slack, but it should not pop under normal driving. Sounds to me like a u-joint going bad.
As to the dipstick leak, you have to push it in firmly but I wouldnt say you have to push it "really hard". It shouldnt be any harder to push in than your engine oil dipstick is.
im saying i pulled the tube that the dipstick go's into out... i did a motor swap in my truck and my buddy pulled it... it's leaken at the transmission were the tube sits into on the trans.
im pretty sure its time to change u-joints125k miles of power brakes and getting on it could do that im sure
Yeah if it was pulled out of the transmission you have to check to see that the rubber gromet isn't damaged or see if it is still there. When fixed you must get it bolted back through the upper right bellhousing bolt or this will happen everytime you pull it.
