i am swaping from a 6 to 302 in my 1966 f-100 in my mock up i noticed the clucth pedel bracket is not going to work can any body tell what i should to correct the problem the right way or if there a way to make the old one work
I presume you are talking about the equalizer that fits between the engine & chassis. If so get one, along with its' attaching hardware, out of a later model that came with a small block windsor, like a 289-302 or 351W. the engine bays are virtually the same from 1965 thru 1979.
If you are installing a newer model 302, you will need to look for the new
model bracket that mount to the new 302 block, because the newer blocks
don't have the hole (boss) for the equalizer bar!
P.S. the bracket that I am refering to mounts with the bellhousing bolt and bends back around the block, and has a bushing in it. I had to use on of these
on a 69 truck that I installed a 87 roller motor in! It work very well,I did have
to do a small amount of grinding on the bracket
if you are using an older model 302 you will need the regular equalizer bar of the right length and I am not sure about the frame mount bracket, you may have to move it.
as stated above the equalizer bar and bracketry from 68 to 79 should work. if you are using an older model 302

If using the 6 cyl bellhousing, not sure later model bracket will attach. Unfortunately, did not come across FTE forum until upgrade was complete. Swapped a 302 (70) for 6cyl. and rethreaded the pivot ball to match treads in block. Had to use spacer between bracket and frame to get equalizer bar horizontal with engine. As Fordboypete noted, getting hardware off later model would likely be the best route.
