need some info/opinion

I own a 2001 7.3 dually auto.
I was reading an article in a magazine about Banks Cold Air Intake Systems.
I need to know if it is worth the hassle and the price?
I don't want to waste the cash if it is not worth it.

I use the truck for pulling a car trailer, and I'm looking for a little better performance and mpg.

Thanks for any replies.

From what I know, most anything Banks makes is good stuff and it works. They are Gurus but their items are often way too pricey. There are many more cost effective ways to get the job done.

Thanks for the replies. What would you recommend as a more cost-efficient alternative? I'm trying to get the most performance for my dollar.

I also had a friend recommend a Super Chip, but I see that those run around $400 and I don't know that much about them. Any info would be appreciated.

From what I have learned from the guy's and gal's on this site. I believe you can't go wrong with the 6637 Kwik filter, and a chip from DP tuner. A $20 filter works pretty good. I run one and I like it. Not saying there are not better one's out there. but I am going to save my money from the Air intake, to buy a dp Chip. Just my .02

I just installed a Banks 4" exhaust and power elbow and I have the AIS intake. Banks gives you quality and an easy to follow instruction book. There is no guessing when you install their system because they explain it. Helping my friend install a cheaper system I realized why you pay more for Banks. Ease of instalation and yes The Banks name.

There are lots of air intake out there to choose from. I went with the AIS because I know it will filter the dirt out no questions asked. I question the ability for some of these high flow filters in their ability to filter the fine abrasive dust.

IMO..i wouldnt waist my time with a super chip..some times they work good and other times they dont..there made for ford trucks..the DP tuner is a custom made chip for the ford computer so you can be sure it will work..your EGT'S will be lower then a super chip..he also makes the trans shift better and the tc lock a little faster..he makes the power go to the ground as super chip just gives you more power the trans cant handel as well in stock form..you call jody and tell him what you got for mods and what you want to do with your truck.give him your computer codes and he will then make your tuner...my tunes listed below cost me 450 deliverd..its an f5 tuner that holds up too 16 tunes...stock setting is #1 and it is a free tune..it is also a switch on the fly tuner..good luck..http://www.dp-tuner.com/

edit; if you dont have gauges yet you better get some...pyro,boost and trans temp is highly recomended..
