I purchase a used tranny from a wrecking yard and was told that I had a version "A" and the replacement is a version "B". I was told I would need to pull the pans and the valve bodies to exchange the linkage on the drivers side. I have both trannys side by side and the neutral/reverse switchs are different also.
On the old tranny the switch mounts vertically and has a 5 pronged connector.
On the new tranny the switch is a rotery type with a foot long pigtail. Can I use this tranny and connect the pigtail into my chassis wiring? If so does anyone have a cross reference for doing this? The old switch uses 5 wires and the new one uses 6. For the oil cooler lines the old tranny has it's fittings right behind the bell housing one above the other and the new tranny's fittings are one near the front and one near the back. Does it matter how I connect the lines to the new tranny?
Take a look at your tranny oil pans. If they are not exactly alike then they are not the same tranny. Personally I thought the C-6 oil cooler lines were in the same place for the entire run. Of course that transmission was in production before I was a itch in my parents you know what.
To clarify, if the oil pans can not be swaped between the tranny's they are not the same tranny. The easiest way to tell auto transmissions apart is the shape of the transmission oil pan.
