Ok guys, Ive exhausted the forums and most of he ones about my problem are incomplete, most of the topics end midway through just as the answer is about to pop up, and no one has answered for 2-3 months...... SO.....
My tach is not working, and I tested my rpm sensor. I did read that the sensor should read 2-3000 ohms dc. well, mine reads 2000 ohms. Yet my tach is still dead. I tried cleaning the sensor with no progress. Is there something else that I should look at? Also.... i hear that, the tach not working affects the tranny's shifting. Is this also true for the C6? or just the E4OD? Thanks
Engine rpm is only needed on e4od. its is computer controled..
C6 is controled by throttle position and governor (vehicle speed)
Your tach could be a lot of things bad tach or wiring between the sensor and the dash or my bet the sensor is bad even with the correct ohms... in 200K I am on rpm sensor number 5..
you have to but the tach and sensor togeather the one in my 6.9 with a c6 runs off the ip gear the one in my 7.3 with a 5 spd runs off of it too i was just looken for a tach for mine then talked to some guys and you have to either buy a tach and sending unit togeather or find another truck with em in it
