also been offered a 460 engine and box but in the land of almost $9.00 a gallon i think this is a little too much.
Hi there, put a late model 302 in my 58, go to Dennis Carpenter, or really any truck site and they have specific mounts for the swap, I think mine were 80 bucks or so, also you will have to get a trannie mount if there is the stock one on there. Hope that helps. James
Yes, engine mounts are readily available from most of the vendors for swapping the engine into your truck. As far as I know the 302 will not bolt up to your tranny. You will need to find a late model tranny to fit which means modifying the tranny x-member and probably the driveshaft.
Years ago I swapped a 390 into a 1960 F-100. U bought the engine mount kit that either bolts or welds into your frame. I made my own tranny mounts as I was installing a 4spd manual and transfer case to make the truck 4 wheel drive.
You'll probably have the normal headackes with exhaust, radiator outlets, etc
With fuel being the high priced maybe you can get lucky and find a late model automatic overdrive to put behind the 302
I understand this is problly what you ant to do but why send another 272 to the scrap heep? Got mine rebuilt for my 1957 worth a million bucks to me to be semi old.
