And, if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy it, approx cost per gallon or qt?? I'm considering synthetic options for my next oil change in about 2k miles, but have not seen Schaeffers on any local shelves in TN.

And you likely won't find it on store shelves anywhere else either.
Schaeffer's, Texas Refinery (TRC), Central Petroleum (CenPeCo), and others do not sell through retailers that I know of. I believe they each have a dedicated sales force that makes the majority of their living selling their respective company's products. They usually ship direct to the customer.
That may sound like an expensive way to bring a product to the customer, but the conventional warehouse/retailer set-up is by no means a cheap method to use either. Then demand has to be developed by expensive advertising and promotional campaigns.
The oil I know about is about $14 a US gallon/$3.50 a qt. bought in a bulk container and exceeds the specs of anything found in a "Big Box" store (if you can find the specs on the "dollar-store" oil).
There are opportunities to sell Schaefers products at a retail store, you just have to go to the website and sign up as a retailer. There is a retail locator on the website also, they just do not focus on this area, they primarily (like TRC) are focused on industrial accounts. Min. order for free shipping from a distributor is $300.

Much like TRC...they offer a (stocking) dealer option as well, but I don't know of any.
