(1988 Bronco II 2.9 4WD) - I had a racket I thought was a throwout bearing! I've changed the clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, & pilot bearing. The noise has not gone away, with the engine idling, clutch engaged no noise as soon as I release the clutch all sorts of racket coming from around the bellhousing. The flywheel looked fine, new starter, lines have been bleed pedal feels fine- the only thing which hasn't been changed out is the clutch master cylinder. Anybody out there have any ideas.
Did you replace the throwout bearing? Did you tighten everything down to specs? You could have bad bearings in the transmission itself or maybe your input shaft was previously trashed because of a bad pilot bearing and you didn't replace or repair the input shaft. Could even be a warped flywheel.
i have to go along with the kernel...it sounds like a bad input shaft and or bearings in the transmission. the pilot bearing that was removed was there anything left to it? when i replaced mine the pilot bearing was all gone except for the outer shell,i ended up rebuilding the tranny while at it. hope this helps!
Yes, yes they are... I believe I had a FM145 in my '86 Ranger 2.0L 4-banger, and I haven't verified whether or not I have a FM146 or a T-K 5 in my BII yet.
